So what really has been going on at ILTC, besides meals and chofesh? We do make friends and we
DO sleep at night, contrary to popular belief. But aside from that, here is teh low down on
some of our most memorable programs:
RIKKUDIM: With the help of the amazing Sandra, every night around 9:30pm all of ILTC dances
around Katz to the tunes of Zodiac, 16 Tons, Od Nagia and much more! Sandra teaches us the
dances during the day and by night we are dancing kings and queens.
SHIRA: ILTC would not be complete without singing. Itzik and Sharon teach us songs like
Am Echad, Eretz Tropit Yaffa and many more during the day. Then, when Shabbat dinner rolls
around on Friday evening, we have a HUGE song session in the dining hall.
JUDAISM: This is an amazing ongoing class at ILTC, where we learn different aspects of
Judaism from our Judaism staff. We learn how it relates to leadership. Some of our topics
have included Lashon Hora (gossip) and Judaism in the Media.
LEADERSHIP: This is another ongoing class at ILTC. Classes are determined by dorms
and discuss "How To Be A Leader." We have learned about our Leadership Styles, how to approach
different situations and words of wisdom to live by.
GABE GOLDMAN: Gabe came to speak about Judaism and the environment. He spoke about
various plants in our own backyards that can get rid of the itch from a bug bite. Gabe also
spoke about our role as caretakers of the land we live on.
SEXUAL HARRASSMENT: Judith Berman Brandenberg, a professor from Columbia University,
came to ILTC one afternoon to speak about sexual harassment. It was an open forum for
discussion about everything from Beau/Sweetheart elections to the "dirty songs" of AZA and
BBG. Before the program took place, we filled out a survey about sexual harrassment and
whether or not we ever experienced it.
NAKED BABIES: On the first night of ILTC we were made fools of by the Naked Babies.
They played some improv games with us. The Naked Babies were funny, and made our first
evening program memorable.
DAN THURSZ: Dan Thursz, the founder of ILTC, came to speak to us about how ILTC has
changed over the last 30 years. He spoke about how the program formed over the years and
became what it is today. At the end Dan and his wife taught us the "La Ba Ba" song.
GIL MANN: Gil came to speak to us about Judaism, and to make us aware of what is going
on with our religion in North America. Some problems included inter-faith marriages, and
Jews not raising their children in a Jewish atmosphere. He also taked about changing Jewish
education in the United States.
MOSHE WALDOCKS: Moshe came to speak to ILTC about a variety of issues. He is also the
author of "The Big Book of Jewish Humor." He spoke about the word G-d and its root, the
Torah, Eretz Yisrael, keeping shabbat and more.
