RED SEA BLUE PAYS BBYO A VISIT
By: Andrea Cohen
On Tuesday July 27th, Red Sea Blue came to perform for ILTC while on a tour in the US for six
weeks. There are four members of the group; Bird, Andy, Fat Lad and Stiffy Noble. Bird is
from Liverpool and is the singer of the group. Debbie Freidman inspires her. She is looking
for a Jewish boy. Andy is the guitarist and he is from Manchester. He lived on a kibbutz
and learned how to play guitar from someone there. Fat Lad is from London and plays
percussion and the piano. He knew he wanted to be a percussionist since he was little because
he always hit his baby sister. He likes the Back Street Boys and is inspired by Keith Moon of
the Who. Stiff is from London and plays the bass as well as guitar and sitar. He enjoys
listening to Brittany Spers ... from her talent and for her looks. Bird and Andy have been
working together for four years. The other two joined just recently. They collectively like
a bit of everything. They describe their music as "terrible ... no just kidding. It's an
eclectic mix of Jewish folk and pop melodies."
They have a self titled CD that is sold in England, but can be purchased online.
Their advice for all aspiring musicians is "keep your ears open."
